A well written, compact introduction to decompression theory. Includes discussion of many current research results, and puts those results into context for technical diving practice. I particularly enjoyed the "Various Topics" chapter that touches on all sorts of interesting questions. The Appendix chapters were an interesting read as well, and cover topics such as hydrogen as a breathing gas, or a proposed method for calculating the effects of surface oxygen breathing in order to reduce no-fly times after diving.I found the book to be an easy read. Don't expect this book to contain the full details of a deco model or study. However it will tell you about the high-level concepts, and provide all the references to further articles and publications if you want to learn more.Note that this book is not really written as a guide for how to do decompression in practice, but more of a primer on current deco theory in the context of real-world diving. This was exactly what I was looking for, but is something you should keep in mind. I, as someone who isn't a tech diver currently, found the book to be intellectually interesting. I think it would also work very well for someone who already has practical deco diving experience, but would like to learn more about the topic.

A very interesting serious read on decompression theories as they stand, history, ideas, comparisons. A very deep, thoughtful and very interesting work to be read by serious curious diver. Thanks a million, Karl.

The Practice Tests contain incorrect answer keys and a surplus of typos

hope can get a five though....

Here's a brief sampling from just the diagnostic test:Q2 - answer choices A and D are exact duplicatesQ3 - the solution is comically wrong; none of the answer choices is remotely close to correctQ7 - in what would be the correct answer choice, the object name P is capitalized, which makes it incorrectQ10 - not an error, but 3 of the 5 answer choices are stupidQ11 - all answer choices are incorrect because they contain extraneous spaces; also all the semicolons are missingPage 204 - "Classes inherit values and methods from their subclasses, not the other way around." They thought this was important enough to put in bold font and inside a box, and they still got it wrong.

Many errorsThis book contains so many errors that would confuse and mislead students

I prepared a month before for the exam using this book and I got a 1...DO NOT BUY!!!

There are quite a few glaring errors that should have been easily caught. It gets especially bad in the chapters about Classes and Arrays.One example of such is when it suggests looping over an array using... (pg 186) for(int i: nums) { if (nums[i] == someNumber) { ..do something here.. }This clearly does not work because if you use (int i: array) syntax, Java gives you the object itself, not the array index. As such, this checks the object that has the index stored in the nth item in the array - not the nth item itself. This is just one example, but to someone who doesn't immediately try the examples in the book, it would cause you to lose points on your APCS test.Overall the book is good as a review of the key AP Computer Science concepts - but if you haven't programmed in Java before do not use this book. You will likely be very confused, or at worst it could introduce new errors into your APCS test.

Got this for my little brother. He likes it and is using it for his AP exam.
