I bought the Kindle edition of this book last month. This book contains speeches or discourses given by Mahatma Gandhi on Bhagavad Gita. He explains Bhagavad Gita in a way that a common man would understand and can relate to. There are some verses in Gita which might be confusing in today's era, but Gandhiji simplifies the meaning of that verse in today's age. This book also gives us an insight to why Gandhiji advocated cleaning latrines or spinning wheel as a method for gaining Independence.I liked this book because of its simple language and explanation. There are other books on Bhagavad Gita which are good too, but sometimes they become too spiritual and the reader might think that the Gita is a book that has no relevance in today's time. But Gandhiji's explanation in this book (and his own life) shows that the Bhagavad Gita is timeless and its teaching is important for everyone even today.I would definitely read this book again in future and recommend this book to everyone.

Gandhiji has written great interpretation about Gita. Very practical.

The authors summarize the facts and explain the climate change and the role of man in all this. What I liked in the book is the language because is simple and easy to be understood by anyone. The book tries to be unbiased just presenting facts and when the topic is not complete understand by the science this is showed and also the uncertainty around the predictions.The problems that I have with the book are: the title and name of the chapters are very long; the figures and graphics are not very well used because they are not referenced in the text and the lack of color make them sometime difficult to understand; the book doesn’t talk about the history of the climate change research and the name of scientists that contribute to it; sometimes the book repeat itself presenting the same topic with small changes in two different chapters; and I missed a conclusion in the end.I would give this book to a person that is interesting in knowing the basic science and facts of the climate change but don’t have much time to spent on that because it is a quick read.

Global Weirdness is a book about global warming that is focused on the effects of global warming. The book is divided into four parts encompassing in total 60 short chapters. Part I “What the science says” explains what we know about global warming, what is causing it, and how we know it. Part II “What’s actually happening” tells us what is happening right now. Part III “what’s likely to happen in the future” is about things we know will happen unless we change course as well as things that might happen if we don’t change course. Part IV “can we avoid the risks of climate change” focuses on ways to mitigate the effects of global warming and ways to avoid it such as geo-engineering.The chapters are short and easy to read and overall the book is a layman’s introduction to the effects of global warming. However, the author provides a lot of references for those who want to go deeper. The book is very well organized and it can be used as a reference book, almost like an encyclopedia. Just look in the contents for the right chapter. The chapter titles are quite descriptive. Quite often the chapter titles are questions and the chapter content encompasses the answer. The book is also well written and it does not contain any overstatements. It focuses on the established and proven science and in general avoids speculation, unless it explicitly states that it is. This may actually make the book scarier to some people. The known facts and the quite likely scenarios are pretty scary on their own, at least for future generations.Over the last couple of years I have become increasingly interested in and worried about global warming. I‘ve studied the science behind it (I have degree in physics) and the evidence that it is happening is very compelling. Yet there is so much science denial and resistance to action in the US. My home country Sweden is handling this much better. I really hope this objective and tempered book could wake up some people.

I’ve only just begun to read this (at last!) and it is well written for the general public. However, if you have scientific background or are looking for substantiation of statements made, you will find no footnotes or references at the close of each chapter. The bibliography and list of source or recommended readings are all at the end. Room for improvement, but the Science and analyses so far are on target.

With change happening with earth’s climate, there has been an increased emphasis on doing sound science on what’s currently happening and predicting what lies in the future. Half the battle is getting people informed of the straight up facts, free of bias from different groups twisting facts to push their own agendas. This book accomplishes that with providing information that we currently know to be happening and what possibilities could arise from these circumstances. Many of the topics covered parallel what is in the IPCC report as well as other books, but in short succinct chapters that remove the fluff and get straight to the point.The layout of the book is quite different from others in that the chapters are very short (2-6 pages) and skip around from topic to topic. I found this refreshing. Many books stretch out information too long and lose the reader. The change of pace between topics also induces more reading as you do not get bored of hearing multiple facets of one topic in succession. The figures and analogies provided by the authors do help in clarifying concepts that could otherwise be somewhat difficult to grasp, but there were other opportunities for figures that would have helped in some situations.Overall, if you’re looking for a quick and easy read to get the basic concepts of how the planet’s climate is changing and why without bias this book will provide that. I would recommend it to anyone, as it does provide the essential information to get you informed so the next time climate change gets brought up you will be armed with the basic knowledge to get you through the argument.

This is a good synapsis of the reasons we believe there is man made climate change occurring. It's an easy read, and covers a wide range of topics within climate change at a high level. It would be better if: 1. it explained more of the science behind how we measure things and 2. it approached the subject with more professional skepticism

Climate change will be one of the most critical issues we face in the coming decades. Many people say it isn't real and the extreme weather events we have been experiencing are normal weather variations. Sadly, that is far from the truth. The Arctic is melting at an alarming rate and plants and animals around the globe are struggling to survive in environments that no longer support their most basic needs. Hopefully this book will enlighten many to the risks we are facing so we can think about what each of us can do to bring about a change before it is too late.

A complex subject written in easy bite size chapters, Global Weirdness is both dire and hopeful. With pros and cons mixed with warnings and solutions, this book will give you plenty to think about.

I listened to this book some months ago, so the details are not as fresh as they might be otherwise. I really loved this book, although I would not give it 5 stars. I reserve that for books that are virtually "perfect" at least from my perspective,but this book did come close. I listened to the Audible edition. The narration was great and all the characters were strong and relate-able for me except the mother/wife with all of her smoking and cursing and generally negative view of church-life and all things spiritual. Even though she had not married her husband as a minister...he became one after they married, her character didn't seem to fit well with her high level on antagonism towards her husband's profession. On the other hand Krueger's handling of the the mother's past relationship with the one-time world-famous pianist, (I forget his name) that was now her daughter's teacher/mentor was very deftly written. And then the minister was so, so, very good to everyone, a little too good at times and excessively understanding, but I felt myself warm to him anyway. Frank, our protagonist, was a great character and the way he cared so much for his sister was very moving. I really enjoyed the part where he and his reluctant brother were eavesdropping on a couples' marriage counseling session (by way of a pipe in basement, I think?) that their dad was having in his office. This was so funny and something I definitely would have done as a kid. At any rate, this book, this story, is, yes, I'll say it: "heartwarming" with a good mystery thrown in. I finished it and felt a kind of satisfaction of time well-spent. Highly recommended!

I read three books a week. I read for entertainment as I am too old to want to be bothered with learning something. Just give me a good mystery or a good legal thriller and I am a happy camper. Ordinary Grace was neither of those things. A friend recommended it to me so out of the goodness of my heart I gave it a try. Oh my! I loved it! Actually read it twice. Most books I give a three or maybe a four star but this one gets a five!

This might not be the most helpful review, as I really don't think I can articulate why I loved this book so much - I just did. Maybe due to its setting in a simpler time (early 1960's), in a small town (in Minnesota) - it almost made me wistful. While the story itself is terrific, the author did such a wonderful job telling it from a young boy's point of view, and I felt like I was right there with Frank Drum. I just so appreciated the messages in this book as well. I can tell you that it's been a long time since I was sad to see a book end, but that definitely happened with Ordinary Grace.Again, not a super helpful review, but just wanted to put my 5 stars out there. So very well done, Mr. Krueger.

Ordinary Grace is a novel that tells the story of a young boy, Frank Drum, who is coming-of-age in 1961. During the summer of '61, Frank and his younger brother, Jake, learned the hard truths about death in various forms: accidental, natural, suicide, and murder. Frank was 13 years old during this time and the story is told from his point of view. Yes, the book is written in first person (you all know how I feel about that) and it worked. The way the author, William Kent Krueger, wrote the story made you feel as if you were sitting in your living room having a conversation with Frank about his summer.The author wrote with wonderful imagery throughout the novel and the reader felt as if he was right there feeling the breeze on their face or smelling the river. The story keeps the reader engaged with Frank and Jake's antics that wound up placing them in precarious positions and involving them knee deep in the active investigations. Frank's father, Nathan, is a preacher, and throughout the novel the reader learns about what ordinary grace is from the way he handles every situation, no matter how bad, in life to how he drew strength from his faith in God.The characters in the story are well developed and have unique personalities that are relatable. From past loves to current loves to love lost, each person in the book handle each situation differently. Some shut down, others got angry, and some just crumbled under the loss and fear. From cover to cover, the reader will want to keep on this journey no matter how heart-wrenching it may be. William Kent Krueger wrote the novel so that no one can really figure out the mystery of who-dun-it until the very end.

I think this is the most powerful book I have ever read. I was touched by this book. Only out of necessity did I put it down before completion. I normally read the one-star reviews when purchasing a book, even if the %'s are very low, someone criticized the book because "knew" how it would play out as they felt the signs were obvious. I did not. Good for them, they're a genius. I think they missed the whole point. This book is to be read and enjoyed for the pain, values, and message that is spoken/unspoken in several difficult situations. Some of the most eloquent ideas about friendship, bullying, love, etc. I know not everyone has the same taste in literature, but I don't think you will be disappointed.

Also there were some issues with the typeset, transferring it over to kindle. For example, when I first read "Ger many" I had to pause for a moment and then figured out it was saying the country of "Germany."

This was hours of fun!My kids ages 8, 6, and 5 all had a great time finding the pictures together. Just be aware this one involves reading. Not all the clues are straight-out, there are some you have to figure out before finding, which my kids loved.

I was hoping that this book would have pictures of the items you are hunting for so my 5 yo son could look on his own. (One of the eye spy books we have does). It doesn't, so we have to go through it together, and some are pretty challenging. We are enjoying it though and he likely will for a while since he's definitely on the "young end" for it

WONDERFUL BOOK. I bought this for an adult male friend who fancies being a treasure hunter and I am positive it will be a hit. I spent about an hours with it and could not complete the first page. This one is definitely a challenge and I would not recommend it for kids under 15 as I think they would get frustrated quickly.

I SPY TREASURE HUNT is by far my favorite of all of the I SPY books. I have given away more than a dozen copies to nieces, nephews, adult friends, and the children of adult friends. In addition to the extremely imaginative and exquisite models that characterize much of the later I SPY books, this book is constructed like a movie story board in order to tell the story of a treasure hunter arriving by train in a coastal village, exploring the area, and finally discovering the treasure on a nearly island.I recently had www.amazon.it send a copy to friends who live in rural Tuscany. Their middle-school daughter found the book so engrossing that she took it to school to share with her classmates in the local village school. I am in my seventies and I still enjoy this wonderful "children's" book.

My daughter and I (she's 6) do these books together because I loved them so much as a child. She usually has a very short attention span and these have been wonderful for keeping her focused on something other than video games and TV!

Cool book but not for my 2 year old. The pictures are very details and hard to find items for his age. I'm sure he will appreciate it more when he turns 5+. My boy loves playing I spy around the house so I was sad that this book was not for him to play now.

The pictures are great, and the pages are big.It's also a change from 'trying to find Waldo' :DNot that there's anything wrong with finding Waldo.. but it's just just a nice change.My 4 year old already admitted to "I Spy" being too hard for her.She's not too excited about trying to find the 'sea horse' or 'thumbtack' on the Arrival scene.I'm enjoying the book, and I think in about 2 years or so, she will, too.Came in perfect condition, and on time.Nothing bad to say about this product and I definitely recommend this product to anyone starting their own library.

My 17 year old son had loved the I Spy books when he was younger, so I got him this one as a 'random' Christmas present after reading the reviews saying that this one was harder than most and good for older kids. It was a huge hit! He said he spent about 12 hours working out all of the puzzles but he stuck with it over several days until they were done. I was happy to see him away from his cell phone and XBox for a little while. My husband also picked up the book and did a few of the pages too.
