I pre-ordered because I am OBSESSED with Simple Green Smoothies. for over 2 years, I have religiously followed that book like a bible along with her blog. This book did not disappoint. Its not JUST a cookbook... its like a blog/self-reflecting/inspiring book that just happens to have tons of amazing recipes. The second thing I love (about both books), the recipes are so easy to follow! I'm not an expert in the kitchen, I need this stuff dumbed down for me so that I don't feel intimidated. There's no fancy equipment, spices, or absurd items needed to create this food! its SIMPLE! The third thing I love - the graphics! They have one amazing photographer on their hands.I can't rave enough about this book. A vegan or a vegetarian NEEDS this. I am neither of those things, but I can look at almost every single recipe and determine how I would incorporate meat.Jen explains... don't just go out and buy everything and try to change overnight. Develop good habits! Make better decisions each day and each trip to the grocery store, make a change or two. Nothing about this book tells you to go on a diet, it just encourages more plants to be incorporated in your daily life so you'll feel better and have better overall health! Jen is a normal, healthy looking person, but she GLOWS with beauty and health. That's what I believe would happen to all that follow her ways.
I LOVED Jen Hansard and Jadah Sellner's first recipe book Simple Green Smoothies and this one is just as amazing! The photography is stunning and there's easy to follow delicious recipes, with a great variety! I loved the basics section on starting plant powered foods. I found it very informative and done in a very approachable way. I have been following Jen's website for quite some time and I love how her smoothies and healthy lifestyle has evolved into a recipe book like this! I hope there are more to come!The recipe sections include: Breakfasts, Snacks, Soups, salads, and sides, Main Dishes, Desserts, and Beverages. There is also an informative Helpful Resources section and a One Month Meal Plans. There are so many recipes I can't wait to try, the Simple Marinara Sauce, Maple Raisin Cookies, Baked Apple Crisp in a Jar, Breakfast Toast 6 ways, and the Austinite Tacos!!! They look awesome!I loved the Seven-Layer Dip recipe and the Taco Lime Salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing!!!! Delish!! I can't wait to go through the whole book and try them all! Next on my list is the Pumpkin Spice Pancakes!! Yummy!I love Jen's passion for creating a healthy lifestyle for herself and her family, and then shared it with the rest of the world! I applaud what she has accomplished with her simplegreensmoothies website , smoothie app, and Rawkstar Community. I love that Jen is down to earth and filled with such a great passion to not only live a simple, happy, full life but done in a healthy way. I absolutely love Simple Green Meals!! I plan to give it for gifts as well. Awesome job Jen Hansard!
I just received my copy of Simple Green Meals, and it is absolutely beautiful! The meals are TRULY simple and green...the recipes don't call for any outlandish ingredients, and look like they are simple to prepare. This is far more than a cookbook...it's a blueprint for a healthier, more delicious way of life. From her tips to stocking your pantry to a full month of meal plans, this book is a comprehensive plan to help us get to a better, healthier lifestyle. I can't wait to get cookin'!!!
This book is gorgeous - if you collect them for that reason, then you won't be disappointed. But if you also enjoy plant-based eating that is relatable, simple, wholesome, and DEEEEE-licious, then you won't be disappointed either! Every recipe and description was created with the utmost care. You can tell that Jen really loves fueling her body and her passions with healthy food, including tons of veggies. Jen got me drinking a green smoothie almost every day and I seriously LOVE her first book. I've been wanting a book just like this. I'm a busy mom and wife with loads of things to do each day. I don't want to spend all day making dinner, you know? Almost all of the recipes fit the bill of quick, tasty, and healthy. There are a few that look more time-consuming, but worth it! I was so happy to see a big dessert section as well. Everything looks so good! I can't wait to cook out of this every single day!
Have tried a few recipes very good. Was surprised to find some recipes with eggs in them, this was under the vegan section so i was not expecting that, hence the 3 stars. I have her other book - green smoothies, great book.
I've loved Simple Green Smoothies since they launched online. I bought her smoothie recipe book and have enjoyed that, so I thought I'd like Jen's new recipe book. . . I LOVE it! In 2 days I've made the pumpkin spice tacos, blackened brussel sprouts, avocado cream, and mushroom fajitas. They were delicious! My 3 year old even loved them! I've earmarked almost every recipe. I can't wait to try them all. I've been on an eating clean and green kick for a few years. This book will help inspire me to keep going and to try new plant based meals! Yay!
Finally a plant-based cookbook with pictures. I would have had a harder time picking a plant-based cookbook if more had pictures. This book is awesome. If you a beginner, the author really breaks it down for you. And if you are a veteran, there might be something that the author brings up that you didn't know before or a new recipe. Either way, it is a great book. There a few recipes that require more prep then I want to do. I have only used a few recipes from this book but even if I only got those few, it is still worth it!!! The bean burger is AWESOME and easy to make. I also like the Green smoothie cookbook by the same author.
